About me

I am a historian of migration, protest and modern Scottish history, with a particular interest in documenting and communicating histories of everyday life. My recent work uses collaborative creative writing to address some of the ethical and methodological challenges of working with refugees and others who have experienced political violence or trauma. My public history work uses walking tours to bring overlooked histories of activism, protest and social change to a broader audience.

Alongside my PhD, I am a writer and arts worker who supports community groups to read and write poetry, and explore creative ways of discussing and recording everyday life.

My professional background includes work in refugee integration, prison education and community development.
