Mapping the Pollok Free State archives

With Galgael, funded by Scottish Graduate School for the Arts & Humanities

In this six month project I researched the history, influence and legacy of the Pollok Free State occupation against motorway expansion (1994-96). The work involved cataloguing archive materials, digitization, curation of a series of images and objects as basis for an exhibition and publication, facilitation of creative workshops, assembling exhibition and facilitating public history events.

Learning from existing archives which work with the social history of protest movements, l sorted through, documented and put into appropriate storage the Pollok Free State materials.

I created an exhibition kit including archive photos blown up and printed on card stock, display stands, banners printed with PFS archive photos, and 8×6 reprinted photos from the archive for display. This kit remained at Galgael as a resource.
